NYPD cops believe it was a relative who stabbed a 5-year-old boy and the child’s mom and dad to death inside the family’s Bronx apartment, a high-ranking police official said Monday.
The relative has not yet been arrested.
Cops found Jonathan Rivera, 38, slumped against the wall in a first-floor hallway of his family’s Mott Haven building on E. 136th St. near Cypress Ave. about 6:40 a.m. Sunday. Clad only in his underwear, Rivera had been stabbed in the chest.

His young son, Kayden Rivera, was found face up on an air mattress inside the family’s first-floor apartment with numerous stab wounds. The boy’s mother, Hanoi Peralta, 38, was found face up in bed with multiple stab wounds. All three were dead at the scene.

Police found the apartment’s front door unlocked and said there were no signs of forced entry.
“I just can’t get over this,” neighbor Paulette Williams, 35, said on Sunday. “Every day I speak to her and that baby. The baby was such a beautiful little kid.”

The family frequented the Neighborhood Deli, according to the store’s shocked owner, Dahan Ali, 50.

“I would see her walking with her son to school. I see her every morning when I open the store,” he said. “Husband also came here every day to buy coffee … They were good people. I didn’t see any problems. I just feel so sad about them.”
