A Chelsea fan who suffered a heart attack during his team’s chaotic 4-4 draw with Manchester City received a welcome visit from club captain Reece James in hospital.
The 23-year-old, not on England duty this month as he continues his comeback to full fitness, stopped by to meet the supporter on Thursday evening.
After posing for a photo with James, the Chelsea defender revealed the unnamed fan’s heart stopped for 20 minutes before he was saved by medics.
“I visited a hospital this evening to see a Chelsea fan that had a heart attack at our game against Man City,” wrote James.
“He was dead for 20 mins and the medics managed to save his life.

“He was a strong man with an amazing family, I’m so happy he’s recovering well.
“Life is so precious and unpredictable. Anything could happen at any point, so enjoy every moment even when things are tough.
“Be kind and always show love, you never know what people are going through or what is round the corner.”
James played for an hour in the Premier League draw last Sunday, which saw Cole Palmer net a late penalty to save Chelsea a point.
A controversial penalty to City led to Erling Haaland netting the opener before Thiago Silva and Raheem Sterling turned the game around.
Manuel Akanji made it 2-2 before the break and Haaland’s second had City in front, but Nicolas Jackson scored before Rodri’s deflected effort late on appeared to be the winner. However, a foul on Armando Broja allowed Palmer to slot home in the 95th minute against his old club.
