Red Bull boss Christian Horner has taken another swipe at his Mercedes counterpart, Toto Wolff, ahead of the British Grand Prix, labelling the Austrian a “control freak”.
While both Mercedes and Red Bull battle it out on track, with Red Bull commanding both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships, the games are still going on off track with Horner and Wolff – who have had many heated discussions through the media this season.
The latest jibe comes from the Red Bull camp, as Horner described Wolff as controlling, and ultimately doesn’t like the fact the Briton voices his view.
“It’s a competitive business, and Toto’s a little bit of a control freak, as we can see,” said Horner at Silverstone ahead of the British Grand Prix. “And the one thing he can’t control is Red Bull. I’m probably the only one to have no conflicts of interest with Toto.
“I can speak my mind and tell him what I think. He maybe finds that slightly uncomfortable.”
The war of words has been brewing all season, with Wolff has calling Horner as “a bit of windbag who wants to be on camera” as talks regarding flexi-wings escalated between the pair in Azerbaijan.

The comments came after Horner warned Wolff to “keep his mouth shut” and “be careful what you wish for” after hinting Red Bull could decide to protest Mercedes’ flexible front wings.
However, after seeing footage on Sky Sports F1 of the rear wing on the Mercedes during first practice in Baku, Horner questioned what he was seeing, saying: “That, if anything around here, looks maybe a bit worse than ours.”
Wolff has hit back at his Red Bull counterpart on Sky Sports F1, as shots were fired from the Mercedes camp.
“Christian is a bit of a windbag who wants to be on camera,” stated Wolff to Rachel Brookes.
“It’s about being punchy and it’s easy to be punchy when you’re top of the timesheet, but you should be a little more modest, I think.”

Red Bull insisted their car is fully in line with FIA regulations and accused rival teams of trying to ‘slow down’ the championship leaders with their complaints, and subsequently, the FIA stepped up to include tougher tests on wings.
And speaking ahead of the sprint race in Silverstone, Horner said: “Coming from the chap who is in front of the camera more than anybody else, I thought that was quite amusing.
“I’m sure Toto will try to throw shade wherever he can. But sometimes, when you point the finger, there are three pointing back at you.”

Verstappen extended his lead at the top of the standings by 33 points thanks to a win during the sprint race at Silverstone, which handed the Dutchman pole position for the main event on Sunday.
Hamilton meanwhile struggled for pace, despite starting from the front of the grid, yet suffered wheel spin off the line, giving his title rival an open goal.
The main race gets underway at 3pm on Sunday, with Verstappen on pole, with Hamilton alongside him on the front row in second as he hopes to stun in front of a home crowd.
