Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto became the first player in franchise history with eight home runs in a six-game span with his first-inning home run Thursday afternoon against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.
He’s also the first Reds’ player to homer in six consecutive games.
“I guess I’m channeling my inner Jay Bruce right now,” Votto told Bally Sports Ohio’s Jim Day after Wednesday’s game.

Votto is the second Major League Baseball player this season with at least eight homers in a six-game span. Former Middletown High School standout Kyle Schwarber hit nine home runs in six games from June 19-25.
