The RCMP is encouraging possible victims to come forward after a 27-year-old Fort Saskatchewan, Alta., man was charged with numerous offences including sexual assault, sexual interference and child luring earlier this week.
On Friday, Manitoba RCMP announced that the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP General Investigation Section had arrested and charged the man in connection with an alleged sexual assault. It is believed that the accused used accounts bearing the names: “Shakenbake_2, Shakenbake_3” or any derivative in order to facilitate contact with underage females.
The investigation revealed that the accused began communicating with the 14-year-old victim in January, via the social media Snapchat and Instagram apps. The accused asked the victim for nude photographs and then sent nude photographs and videos of himself.
Police said the accused’s behaviour escalated and using these social media platforms, the accused made arrangements to meet the victim. The accused took the victim to a secluded area where she was sexually assaulted.
As a result of the investigation, the 27-year old was charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, child luring, and accessing and possessing child pornography. Additional charges may be pending.
The accused’s next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 29.
The Fort Saskatchewan RCMP believe there could be additional victims in other provinces including Manitoba. Anyone who may have had contact with this individual or communicated with him via social media (Snapchat or Instagram) is asked to contact the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP at 780-997-7900.
