Jadeveon Clowney is $750,000 richer.
The Baltimore Ravens linebacker secured a $750,000 bonus after recording a sack in the first half of Saturday’s Week 18 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers at M&T Bank Stadium.
Clowney needed nine sacks to secure the bonus, and his sack in Saturday’s game puts him at 9.5 sacks on the season.
The Ravens entered Saturday’s game having already locked up the No. 1 seed in the AFC with a 13-3 record, so many of the team’s starters sat, including Lamar Jackson. Had Clowney not been so close to reaching nine sacks, it’s possible he also would have sat out the matchup.
Clowney entered Saturday’s game having already earned a $1 million bonus for reaching seven sacks on the season. His sack of Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph now has him at $1.75 million in incentives for the year.
The 30-year-old agreed to a one-year, $2.5 million deal with the Ravens ahead of the 2023 season, so the incentive was pretty significant.
Clowney entered Saturday’s game having posted 8.5 sacks, five passes defended, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, 39 tackles, eight tackles for loss and 18 quarterback hits in 16 games.
The three-time Pro Bowler has made a significant impact on defense for Baltimore and should only continue to be a game-changer for the franchise throughout the postseason as the Ravens aim to win their first title since 2013.
