Raptors 100, Knicks 83: Scenes from the three-point shooting regression from hell

The New York Knicks couldn’t hit a basketball shot to save their lives on Thursday night, which is a pretty good summation of the year 2020, I suppose. To their credit, they stayed within striking of the Toronto Raptors throughout much of the game, but it’s hard to win a game when you shoot 3-36 from beyond the arc.

You read that right: 3-36. At one point, they missed 20 three-point attempts in a row. The Raptors may not be as good as in recent years, but they are plenty good enough to beat that kind of shooting. They pulled away late as the Knicks gave up the rope.

Austin Rivers played his first game of the season and did some cool things off the bench, dropping a tidy 7 points and 5 assists.

Julius Randle played decently well, considering nobody could shoot, dropping 15 points, 10 rebounds and 5 dimes. He left the game early, however, after taking a shot to the thigh.

Please get well soon, Julius. Otherwise, this was a night — and a year — to forget. Benny will have the recap tomorrow morning. Happy New Year.
