The business is branching out

Souttar opened Maison Dieu Coffee Roasters with footie pal Euan Spark and wife Kayley just under two years ago.

Brother Harry Souttar is also listed as being part of the team behind scenes.

Souttar and Spark came through the ranks at Brechin City Boys Club and Dundee United together and their first branch, on Montrose Street in Brechin, welcomed customers for the first time in November 2021.

Serving up cakes alongside their speciality coffee, they have fostered a strong customer base in Brechin and are now preparing for a second venue in the nearby city of Dundee.

The new shop will be in the Broughty Ferry area on Brook Street, with an official opening date to be announced.

An social media post from the company read: “We just got the keys to our new Broughty Ferry Cafe!

“Now that it’s confirmed, we can announce that the shop is located at 195 Brook Street, DD52AG.

“(You’ll find it just across the road from Gillies, where Tesori Jewellers currently is).

“With all things going to plan, our doors will open in mid-September. Speciality coffee is coming to the Ferry at last.

“Stay tuned for an exact opening date!”

The company itself started in 2020, but with the Covid-19 pandemic they faced a longer wait than planned before they could formally open their doors.

Since then not only has the shop itself been successful, but Souttar & co have started selling products online, hosted mixer events and stationed themselves in coffee trucks at various events such as the Strathmore Highland Games.

On the park, Souttar was part of a Rangers team that beat Livingston 4-0 at Ibrox.

Spark also won 2-1 at home to Brora Rangers with Brechin.

Brother Harry is believed to be on the way out at Leicester, and there were shock rumours last week that he could JOIN his brother in Glasgow at Rangers.

But Gers boss Michael Beale poured cold water on that idea.
