Rangers player ratings as Cedric Itten announces himself as an Ibrox star

Itten #Itten

Has there ever been a time before where Rangers could go away in Europe, make seven changes and still be comfortable winners?

Naturally, you have to factor in the changes Lech Poznan made but it was still a tremendous showing from Rangers in Poland tonight.

Steven Gerrard will be thrilled as he got a great performance from Cedric Itten and good showings from the likes of Ianis Hagi and Bongani Zungu.

Nathan Patterson also impressed on his first Europa League start at 19 and it’s a sign of a bright future for the Ibrox side.

And here’s how the players rated.

McLaughlin

Made any saves he needed to and was composed on the ball. Now has 10 clean sheets in 11 games for Rangers and it’s an incredible record. 7

Patterson

A big night for the young right back and he certainly never let anyone down. Began tiring in the second half but worked hard up going both ways. 7

Goldson

Thought he had a goal but it just didn’t quite go over the line. Strong defensively yet again from the skipper for the night as Rangers clinched top spot. 8

Balogun

The Nigeria international was solid at the back and even had a couple of runs forward. Good on the ball and strong in the tackle. 7

Barisic

Back in the team and provided a great ball for the second goal of the night. Another very good performance from the Croatian left back. 7

Zungu

Started slowly and picked up an early booking but grew into the game and began dominating the midfield. A really good performance on his first European start for the club. 7

Arfield

The Canada skipper has become a mainstay in the middle of the park and he was excellent yet again. Worked hard going both ways and played some nice stuff. Now a first pick for Gerrard. 8

Kamara

The level of ability this guy has just seems to grow and grow. An absolute class act on the ball and he’s added a new dimension to his game driving forward. A very good showing from the midfielder. 8

Hagi

Like Zungu, he started slowly but grew into the game. Made sure Goldson’s header cross the line and grew in confidence as the game went. Was probably enjoying his best spell when he was hooked for Ryan Kent. 7

Itten

An excellent performance from the striker. Played the main striking role brilliantly and scored an absolutely wonderful goal in the first half. Gave Gerrard a lot to think about going forward. 9

Aribo

Started the game wide on the right and performed well. Not at his best but still showed some brilliant touches throughout the game. Worked hard and finished the game in midfield. 7

Subs

Tavernier

The skipper came on as a second half sub and performed well down the right hand side as usual. 5

Kent

Replaced Hagi with 15 to go and showed glimpses of his quality. 4

Barker

On for the closing stages and was unlucky with a header. 4

Morelos

Got some minutes in his legs but still looking for that elusive goal. Worked hard. 3

Bassey

On at centre back for a bit of game time and made a great clearance. 3
