Rangers must learn quickly – Butland

“We have to be better. Bottom line.”

That was the simple message from Rangers goalkeeper after Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Aberdeen at Ibrox.

A third Premiership defeat of the season leaves the Ibrox team seven points behind leaders Celtic and turns up the pressure on manager Michael Beale.

“There is no positives to take,” Butland told RangersTV.

“There is nothing I can say that will make us or any fan feel better about it. But we can’t dwell on it.

“We have to go to Cyprus on Thursday (Aris Limassol in the Europa League) and win and then beat St Mirren at the weekend and that is the only thing we can control right now.

“We have to learn from these tests we are having and situations we are putting ourselves in and we have to learn quickly.

“Teams are going come here and sit off us, defend and wait for a moment to get something out of the day.

“That’s exactly what Aberdeen did and we allowed them to do it all too easily.

“We have to get the ball in the back of the net and make our lives easier. Ultimately we paid the price for not being clinical enough.”
