Randwick meeting transferred to Rosehill with part of Sydney in Covid lockdown

Sydney’s Civic Stakes race meeting has been switched from Randwick to Rosehill Gardens on Saturday due to the worsening Covid cluster in the eastern suburbs.
With 22 new Covid infections announced on Friday morning, the Berejiklian Government announced stay at home orders for four local government areas including Randwick.
This prompted Racing NSW and Australian Turf Club to switch the Saturday meeting at Rosehill.
In a joint Racing NSW-ATC media release, it was announced the race meeting would not be open to the public.
Only essential personnel including club staff, racing industry participants and selected media will be allowed to attend along with owners of horses racing at the meeting.
Those owners will be placed in designated areas on course.
The media statement stipulated that Racing NSW and ATC “will continue to ensure all participants adhere to stringent COVID-19 protocol.’’
Due to the evolving nature of Covid cases and as a precautionary measure, the Rosehill meeting is closed to ATC members and the general public.
All Saturday’s race times and distances will remain as programmed, with the exception of race 5, the Garry Burgess Handicap, which will now be run over 1500m.
The Rosehill Gardens rail will be in the true position.
