Rajasthan Royals Pens Special Note For Mohammad Rizwan After Match-Winning Century Against Sri Lanka

Pakistan pulled off a stiff 345-run chase against Sri Lanka to make it two wins in two matches of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Having conceded 344 in 50 overs, Pakistan looked up to Babar Azam to bail them out of trouble, however, the Pakistan captain suffered a second consecutive failure as he was out for 10 runs, leaving Pakistan in huge trouble.

The Men in Green had already lost Imam ul Haq and it all looked doomed and gloomy for the team. Mohammad Rizwan joined Abdullah Shafique, who was brought in as a replacement for Fakhar Zaman. The pair absorbed pressure and added a 174-run partnership for the third wicket to put Pakistan back on track. Shafique went on to score a brilliant century before being out for 113. Rizwan took over the charge from Shafique and kept Pakistan’s innings afloat. He was struggling with cramps and took a few body blows but did not give up and ended up taking Pakistan over the line. Rizwan scored 134 to help Pakistan win by 6 wickets.

Rizwan has been in great form in World Cup 2023. He scored a century against New Zealand in the warm-up game and followed it up with a crucial 68-run knock against the Netherlands. Meanwhile, IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals posted a heartfelt note for Mohammad Rizwan for his fighting spirit.

“Always a proud moment for me whenever you perform for your country. I am speechless at this moment. It was difficult. The thing was that after the bowling innings we went back and everyone was confident. Unluckily, they got Babar Azam early but we got good partnerships after that. It’s a good track, was supporting to us. I told Shafique to take it step by step. Sometimes cramps and sometimes I was okay (chuckles),” said Rizwan after bagging POTM award.
