The Bills’ strong start enabled them to take a 17-13 halftime lead over the Raiders. Buffalo’s offense pounced on the Raiders at the start, as Josh Allen hit Gabriel Davis for a 26-yard score. After a Raiders field goal, Buffalo added to its lead on an 11-yard touchdown pass from Allen to Cole Beasley. Las Vegas drove down the field before having to settle for another field goal by Daniel Carlson.
Buffalo, who started the game by converting on its first five third-down situations, settled for a 34-yard field goal by Tyler Bass on their next drive. The Raiders finally hit pay dirt on their third possession, with Derek Carr connecting with tight end Jason Witten on a three-yard pass. The score was Witten’s first as a Raider. It was also Carr’s 150th career touchdown pass, tying him with Hall of Fame quarterback Ken Stabler for the franchise lead.
