Chelsea responded in the best way after being angered by a controversial penalty which was scored by Erling Haaland.

Thiago Silva and Raheem Sterling put Mauricio Pochettino’s men 2-1 up after Haaland’s penalty, which came due to Marc Cucurella being adjudged to have fouled the Norwegian in the Blues area.

The former appeared to have his arm around the latter in a similar situation to penalty City were awarded against Manchester United.

Haaland was the man to step and and take, doing so in emphatic fashion as he put the visitors ahead.

However, Chelsea fans absolutely fuming to see the penalty be given in the first place and took to social media to vent their frustrations.

Taking to X, one said: “”How is that a penalty????? Haaland was pulling Cucurella.”

“How is that a penalty??? Haaland and had no chance of getting the ball ffs,” added a second.

A third said: “Anthony Taylor is the worst referee ever.”

Moments later though, Chelsea scored their equaliser as Thiago Silva headed in a corner from the right.

The reigning champions then fell behind as Sterling netted from close range against his former club, however, Pep Guardiola’s side hit back when Manuel Akanji headed the ball past Robert Sanchez to end an enthralling first half.

City regained their lead moments into the start of the second-half as Haaland found the back of the net on the goal line.
