RAAC concrete: ‘We warned of a critical risk to life’

Jonathan Slater, who was the top civil servant at the Department for Education from May 2016 to August 2020, told the Today programme a survey of schools was carried out about 10 years ago and a second was commissioned in his time.

“We were saying there is a critical risk to life if this programme is not funded.”

However the department only got the funding to to pay for a fraction of the schools needing replacement.
