FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Ole Miss football fans have their silver lining.

In the third quarter of a game the Rebels trailed 42-6 after 45 minutes against Arkansas, freshman running back Quinshon Judkins made a little bit of history.

Judkins, a true freshman, broke the Rebels’ single-season rushing yard record with an explosive 60-yard rush.

That play moved Judkins past the great Kayo Dottley in the record book. Dottley’s mark of 1,312 rushing yards had stood since 1949.

After a short touchdown carry in the fourth quarter, Judkins had 181 yards on the night and 1,352 for the season.

Last week against Alabama, Judkins also set the school’s single-season rushing touchdown record.

“He’s a good player,” Alabama coach Nick Saban said of Judkins last week. “He’s had an outstanding year. He’s had a lot of production. The guy’s a really, really good competitor. Does a good job of executing the plays they ask him to run. He’s relentless in the way he carries the ball. He’s tough. He can run behind his pads. He can make you miss. He’s got pretty good speed. We looked at him coming out last year. In hindsight, it would be great if he was on our team.”
