Prince Andrew was “so angry” after Prince Charles suggested that Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie lose their royal security funding. This came after Eugenie received backlash over the taxpayers having to foot the bill for his police bodyguards while she took a gap year abroad. Royal biographer Angela Levin said: “They were not likely to be very senior royals

“So Prince Charles decided that this was too much for the public to pay, so he stopped that.

“Prince Andrew was so angry that he wrote a note to the Queen.

“He said he wanted them to be considered as proper royals.”

She continued: “He did not want the protection officers to leave them.

“Usually the Queen gave into him, she had just huge soft spot for him.

“He could usually persuade her to his way.

“But this time, she refused.”

Vanity Fair Royal Editor Katie Nicholl added further insight: “The suggestion really was that [Andrew and Sarah Ferguson] were living beyond their means and cashing in on their royal connections.

“People thought Beatrice and Eugenie were going to be just the same.

“It was almost as if they were tarred with their parents’ brush from the outset.”

Neither of the princesses receives an allowance from the Privy Purse, although they do undertake the occasional public engagement.

Since 2017 Beatrice has had a full-time job and splits her time between London and New York.

She is Vice President of Partnerships and Strategy at Afiniti.

The royal works with the programme through charity endeavours and speaking engagements.

Eugenie meanwhile is the Director of the Hauser & Wirth art gallery.
