Quebec reported 1,234 new cases over the last 24 hours on Saturday, the third-highest daily count the province has registered since the pandemic started.
It is also the third day in a row the province has recorded more than 1,100 new cases.
The latest figures bring the provincial total to 113,423.
There have been 29 more deaths linked to COVID-19, but one previously recorded death was withdrawn from the count after being attributed to a different cause. This brings the total number of fatalities to 6,431.
The number of hospitalizations dropped by 16 from the previous day, for a total of 523 patients. Of those, 78 are in intensive care, an increase of one.
On Thursday, the last day for which data is available, 30,919 tests were carried out.
In an opinion piece published in Quebec media Saturday morning, Premier François Legault thanked the populace for its efforts to date, but warned that “the battle is not over yet,” and urged citizens to keep up their morale.
