QPR v Sheffield United: Charlie Austin puts hosts ahead in crunch game for Blades

Sixth in the table as the promotion race enters its final straight, United know they have a number of teams breathing down their necks and can ill afford any slip-ups at this stage if they are to make the play-offs.

But midfielder Ollie Norwood has denied there is any pressure on his teammates as they chase an immediate return to the Premier League.

Although Norwood admitted the stakes are high, he said: “There’s no pressure on us. It’s in our own hands and that’s how you want it.

“These are the situations you become a footballer for. You don’t grow up as a kid dreaming of being in mid-table and simply playing out a season. You dream of things like promotion and stuff like that.

“So we want to be in exactly these types of scenarios. Other people might want to talk about pressure and this and that. We just embrace it because it’s what we work hard for.”

Mahoney keeps out MGW’s flicked header and the Wolves man has taken a knock there with his heavy fall, United will hope he’s okay to continue – they’ve had enough injury blows of late and can’t afford to lose him too!

AND it’s Ndiaye who gets another one, pouncing from close range after Berge’s shot is blocked – he made no mistake that time with a close-range finish and it’s game on now. COME ON BLADES!

but his cross is diverted behind for another Blades corner – Gibbs-White was screaming for the cutback and isn’t happy but Fleck delivers the corner and it HITS THE POST before being cleared off the line! Wow!

in the start of this second half as Egan gees up the fans behind the goal, they win another corner which Norwood takes … it’s headed clear by Dunne before Robinson is denied by a great save from Mahoney from the resulting cross from Norwood

seconds into the half as Robinson’s long throw tests Mahoney, his punch isn’t great and Gibbs-White pokes the loose ball goalwards but it’s cleared off the line

and we’re back under way

and the Blades trail at the break in a game they really have to win to keep hold of their play-off place – they started really well and dominated the ball but young Mahoney in the home goal, playing only his second senior game, has not been tested at all. At the other end Foderingham hasn’t been overworked either but has been beaten once and made a smart save on the edge of half-time – United have a lot to do to get back into this one, but you feel they’ll have to find a way somehow if they’re to salvage their play-off push. Stick with us for the second half to see if they can …

after Berge won the ball back in midfield and fed the young man – he fashioned a yard of space but then blazed his shot well over the bar

from Gibbs-White after he’s fed by Berge – he had options to pass but looked to bend it home and the QPR goalkeeper saves comfortably
