PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — U.S. Attorney Zachary Cunha said that a Providence man was found to be illegally possessing a 9mm firearm, three ghost guns, and more than 400 rounds of ammunition, as well as knowingly making false statements to a federally-licensed firearms dealer.

Lucas Soriano pled guilty to a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm and making false statements during the purchase of a firearm.

Cunha said that the 41-year-old’s arrest came as a result of a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and United States Postal Inspection Service investigation into individuals who use the U.S. mail in furtherance of violating federal firearm laws.

The investigation found that Soriano was having material used to manufacture firearms shipped to his mother’s house.

A search warrant executed at the residence found the ghost guns and parts.

Cunha said that ATF also learned that Soriano lied on a firearm purchase form that said he was not previously convicted of a crime.

Soriano was previously convicted in New York on charges of armed robbery with a deadly weapon and criminal possession of a loaded firearm.

Cunha said that Soriano was sentenced to two years in prison followed by three years of federal supervised release.
