Professor Chris Whitty defends vaccine rollout decision

Professor Chris Whitty explained the decision to extend the time between vaccine doses during today’s Downing Street briefing.

The Chief Medical Officer acknowledged the need for a second dose and said the timings would allow for “twice as many people to be vaccinated”.

On the question of possible mutations, he described the risk as “a small real worry.”
