The royal rift between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and the royal family just got deeper, as royal expert says senior royals, including Kate Middleton and Prince William, were “more than relieved” that the ex-royals would not be attending King Charles’ birthday party.
King Charles turned 75 years old on Tuesday, Nov. 14, and held a royal birthday party at the Clarence House in London for his family and friends. While there was some back and forth in the media over whether Harry and Meghan received an invitation in the first place, either way, most attendees were happy that the ex-royals were nowhere to be found. Kate Middleton & Prince William are ‘relieved’ Meghan & Harry were no-shows
Royal commentator and Buckingham Palace expert Neal Sean shared his insights on the situation with Fox News. “Let’s be very clear,” he said. “Most senior members of the British monarchy are more than relieved by the news that the two former royals known as Harry and Meghan are simply not going to be returning for the birthday celebrations of his Majesty, The King.”
Harry and Meghan have taken to the press on multiple occasions to slander the royal family. Between their interview with Oprah in March of 2021, their Netflix docuseries in December of 2022, and Harry’s memoir, Spare, in January of 2023, just to name a few, they have made it their goal to paint the royal family in a bad light, so it’s no wonder they weren’t missed at the birthday party.
“The simple fact is,” Sean continued, “this news was a problem, but more importantly, who needs victims at a family celebration?”
Harry and Meghan have repeatedly insisted that they are the victims of the entire situation, but most fans wholeheartedly disagree.
King Charles wants to ‘reconcile’ with Prince Harry
According to Sean and various other reports, King Charles doesn’t want to be estranged from his youngest son. “This is the dilemma that faces most of the senior members of the family… while His Majesty, the King, would very much like to reconcile with his son, this is a bigger issue,” Sean said.
It doesn’t need to be stated that the royal family—and everyone, really—would like all this media nonsense from Harry & Meghan to stop, but the pair don’t show any signs of reconciliation. Sean continued, saying that King Charles “hoped his troublesome youngest son Prince Harry may have relented” and returned home for “such a landmark birthday,” but not only was Harry nowhere to be seen, he also claims that he was never invited.
A spokesperson for Prince Harry told The Messenger that “there has been no contact regarding an invitation to His Majesty’s upcoming birthday.” Buckingham Palace has yet to set the record straight, and fans are still divided over whether such an invitation existed or not.
Fan reactions
In reaction to hearing that William & Kate, among others, were “relieved” that Harry and Meghan wouldn’t be attending the birthday party, fans had a lot to say. In a Reddit thread, fans commented, “There are no surprises there.”
Another user wrote, “These two would make King Charles’ 75th birthday about them and try to steal the spotlight like they always do. The Royal Family and England must always feel they dodged a bullet when H and M aren’t around.”
“I don’t understand Harry,” another user posted. “If given the opportunity to see my father and celebrate his birthday, I would be days ahead of the celebrations just for one more hug.”
“I’m sure he is relieved they didn’t show up,” added another person. “He doesn’t need their drama during his celebration because they would find a way to make it about them.”
“All events are required by Meghan to feature her and her victimhood as the main attraction,” a final user posted. “I wouldn’t want her at my birthday.”
