Pride Month: Yahoo unveils re-imagined logo for June

In celebration of Pride Month, Yahoo commissioned New York-based brand designer and art director Daniel Koludrovich to re-imagine the Yahoo logo.

The happy-go-lucky artist sees the month of June not only as a chance to reflect on the challenges of growing up “different”, but also to lean into those differences.

“To me, Pride Month is a yearly invitation to unlearn the ‘I wish I fit in’ narrative from childhood and flip it into ‘I may never fit in, but I now celebrate what makes me different’.”

That self-reflection and self-love is just a small sliver of Pride’s impact, Koludrovich says, and adds that the yearly celebrations have had a major impact on his approach to life.

“I can confidently say I would not be the man I am today if it weren’t for all those Pride Months showing young, gay Daniel how beautiful life could be.”

For the logo, Koludrovich says he was inspired by the fearless LGBTQIA+ members who give young, queer children a sense of belonging in this world.

“It takes courage to come out of the closet and wear your stripes with pride – but the simple act of sharing your true self loudly can turn a world of loneliness into a generation of acceptance.”

Ultimately, Koludrovich hopes people feel the love and joy and that his work can give a voice to others.

“It can be easy to forget that a lot of Pride logos are made by local artists excited to get the opportunity to paint the world rainbow!”
