NEWS & NOTES
Last Time Out: After an uncharacteristic 6-2 loss to the New York Rangers Saturday night on home ice, the Canes responded with a divisional victory to start the new week. It may not have been their prettiest effort of the season, but Brent Burns, Paul Stastny, and Stefan Noesen paved the way to a 3-2 victory in the nation’s capital on Tuesday. Frederik Andersen stopped 34 out of 36, improving to 7-1 in nine appearances since returning from injury.

Scoring While Down A Man: The Canes have eight shorthanded goals since the turn of the calendar year and have a share of the league lead with 10 on the season. Sebastian Aho has been responsible for three of them, currently ranking tied for second among all skaters in the NHL. The franchise record for most shorthanded goals in a season is 17.
On The Other Side: Montreal comes to town having won three games in a row, most recently blanking Chicago on Tuesday. They have scored 14 goals during the stretch and allowed just 5, a twist in what has been an otherwise struggling season for them. Jonathan Drouin leads the way with five points in the three games, and netminder Jake Allen has stopped 51 out of 53 shots.
