President Donald Trump Calls Joe Biden A ‘Trojan Horse’ For ‘Radical Left Agenda’

Trojan #Trojan

President Donald Trump has taken to Twitter on countless occasions to convey his thoughts and opinions about a myriad of topics to his 84M followers. This trend continued on Wednesday morning when he once again shared his political beliefs leading up to the 2020 U.S. presidential election. This time, his comments were focused on former Vice President Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic nominee.

In the tweet, which can be seen below, Trump accused Biden of being a “Trojan horse” for the “Radical Left Agenda.” Trump then added that he believes Biden would “do whatever they want” in terms of potential policies and decisions.

The definition of a Trojan horse is “someone or something intended to defeat or subvert from within usually by deceptive means,” as stated by Merriam-Webster. Therefore, Trump’s usage of the phrase could be seen as an attempt to lead his supporters to believe that Biden would institute a progressive or socialist agenda over the more moderate one people may believe he has touted leading up to the Nov. 3 election.

While the former V.P. has not indicated that he would fully mimic the beliefs of those who lean more towards a socialist structure within the Democratic Party, including U.S. Representative for New York’s 14th congressional district Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Vermont senator Bernie Sanders, he has worked closely with his far-left-leaning colleagues in recent months.

On a July 8 episode of MSNBC’s “All In With Chris Hayes,” Sanders was asked about his recent partnership with Biden as the two worked together to formulate a new Biden-Sanders unity task force that addressed a range of issues, including a $15 living wage, health care, and immigration reform.

During the appearance, Sanders stated that he believed the new task force would make Biden “the most progressive president since FDR [Franklin D. Roosevelt],” but acknowledged that it did not have everything he wanted to be included, which highlighted the differences in ideals that exist between the two politicians.

Following Trump’s tweet that gave a nod to commonalities that may exist between the more moderate and progressive Democrats, many on Twitter indicated that they did not believe his “Trojan Horse” comment about Biden was warranted, as seen in the tweets below.
