Predator star praises new prequel movie Prey

Predator prequel Prey has proven itself a success with fans and critics alike – and now one of the original movie’s stars has weighed in to give his equally glowing verdict.

Following Prey’s release last week, Predator star Jesse Ventura – who played Blain Cooper – has delivered his verdict on the franchise’s new entry, well and truly welcoming Amber Midthunder into the “Predator family”.

Writing on Twitter yesterday (August 7), Ventura addressed both Midthunder and Prey’s director Dan Trachtenberg.

“#PreyMovie Great, great, film,” the actor declared. “@AmberMidthunder you definitely ain’t got time to bleed. Welcome to the Predator family.

“@DannyTRS Thank you for making a such a thoughtful, creative, and wonderful film.”

Amber Midthunder, who plays Prey’s lead Naru, was almost speechless following Jesse’s praise. “I just… I don’t know how to.. thank you @GovJVentura !” she responded.

Set in 1719, Prey sees Midthunder’s Naru, a young Comanche warrior battling the Predator (Dane DiLiegro).

As the timeline may suggest, the Predator is a little different to what fans may be used to, and in an exclusive chat with Digital Spy, filmmaker Dan Trachtenberg addressed how his alien feels compared to those in the original movies.

“For this one, I really wanted to make this version of the Predator so much more feral and ferocious and animalistic, from its movements to its silhouette and its design,” he explained.

“That was something that we looked at the other iterations and tried to zig where they zagged a little bit,” he added.
