Power goes out across Chelsea, restoration time unknown

CHELSEA, MI — The City of Chelsea currently is experiencing a citywide power outage, according to city officials.
The power went out shortly after noon on Friday, Sept. 1 across the city, according to city officials. Chelsea Power and Light, the city’s utility service, is investigating the outage. There is no current restoration time.
Consumers Energy, which also serves the area, reported that 1,675 of the roughly 2,200 customers it has in the area are without power. It also did not provide a cause or restoration time.
