Potential record-setting 5.8 magnitude earthquake reported in northern Alberta
Earthquakes Canada has reported back-to-back significant earthquakes in northern Alberta. One could potentially by the largest ever recorded in the province. The first quake, a magnitude 5.2, was reported at 4:45 pm MT about 29 km from Reno, Alta.

A little over an hour later, another larger quake was reported at 5:55 pm MT. The second quake could potentially be the largest earthquake ever recorded in the province at magnnitude 5.8. The strongest earthquake previously recorded was magnitude 5.4 which hit April 11, 2001.
Record setting earthquake
“We have received no reports of damage at this time,” Earthquakes Canada. The quakes were strongly felt close to Reno and lightly felt in eastern British Columbia and western Alberta.
