Independent Senator Jacqui Lambie says it is in the national interest for the federal government to next scrutinise the Port of Darwin deal with China.
The Northern Territory government in 2015 leased the port to China in a 99-year-long and $500 million deal.
“I’m beyond why you would do that; I actually believe that should be torn up,” Ms Lambie told Sky News.
“It is in our national interest to do something about that Port of Darwin, it is the top end of Australia, if we’re going to be attacked, let’s be honest here, that’s the first place it’s going to hit it.”
