MILFORD — Two city residents have been arrested in connection with an accidental shooting over the summer that seriously wounded a woman, police said Thursday.
Police said the incident occurred Aug. 3, 2020, in a Milford apartment complex where Michelle Muiz, 41, and Leviticus Morey, 46, resided.
A handgun owned by Morey accidentally discharged, injuring another person who was in the apartment, police said.
The female victim suffered what police described as a serious injury, and was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital. She has since recovered, police said.
Following a lengthy investigation, including observing video footage of the incident, fingerprinting and testing for gunshot residue, Muniz was charged with unlawful discharge of a weapon and first-degree reckless endangerment.
Morey was charged with negligent storage of a firearm and tampering with evidence. The tampering charge stemmed from missing video footage, police said.
Muniz and Morey were arrested Wednesday and were scheduled to appear Thursday in court.
