Police officer who killed Patrick Lyoya has complaints, awards in personnel file

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Records in the personnel file for police officer Christopher Schurr, who shot and killed Patrick Lyoya after a traffic stop earlier this month, show two complaints from 2021 and several awards.

One of the complaints led to “coaching” after backing into a vehicle, while the other complaint for allegedly breaking open a safe and taking items was not upheld by Internal Affairs.
