Police: Lake Station man dead after hit and run in Hobart
Hobart #Hobart
A Lake Station man is dead after a hit and run Wednesday morning in Hobart, according to police.
A Hobart Police officer at around 7:12 a.m. Dec. 27 found a man’s body on an embankment in the 6700 block of East 37th Avenue, between Northridge Drive and North Lake Park Avenue near the Deep River Bridge, according to a release on the department’s social media page. Police believe the 59-year-old appears to have been walking along the road and was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound that then fled, the release said.
The South Lake County Crash Reconstruction Team, of which Hobart is a part, handled the investigation, and police are looking for a gray 2005-2010 Honda Odyssey with damage to its passenger side, the release said. Anyone with information can email Officer Tommie Tatum at ttatum@cityofhobart.org or call Hobart Police at 219-942-1125.
