Police identify man in fatal SE Portland shooting

Portland police identified Geavauntae Sherman, 22, of Portland as the man fatally shot near Raymond Park in Southeast Portland Monday night.

An autopsy confirmed he died by gunshot, police said.

Police responded Monday around 10 p.m. to reports of a man who had been shot and helped into a car on the 11800 block of Southeast Liebe Street. Residents in the Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood reported hearing gunshots and screams near the park.

Officers found the man in a car near Southeast 122nd Avenue and Division Street, but he had died, police said.

Chelsea Martin, a nearby resident, said she saw a party in the park that evening where the shooting took place.

No suspects have been identified.
