Plymouth Argyle were beaten for the first time under head coach Ian Foster as they lost 4-1 after extra-time in their FA Cup fourth round replay against Leeds United at Home Park.

The Pilgrims were without nine players for the tie for a variety of reasons while Leeds were able to bring on very talented attackers in Patrick Bamford, Georginio Rutter and Crysensio Summerville as substitutes.

That extra strength in depth told in the end as Leeds scored three goals in extra-time to secure a fifth round tie away to Chelsea or Aston Villa later this month.

Leeds opened the scoring in the 66th minute through Wilfried Gnonto but Brendan Galloway came up with a 79th minute equaliser with a close range finish after a free-kick taken by Morgan Whittaker was played back inside by Ashley Phillips.

However, Argyle hopes of coming from behind to win were dashed in extra-time as Summerville and Rutter netted for Leeds before Pilgrims’ striker Ryan Hardie conceded a 117th minute own goal following a corner.
