Plies Accuses NFL Of “Forcing” Taylor Swift On Football Fans: “We Love Her, But DAMN!”

The NFL’s seeming fixation on Taylor Swift’s presence at Kansas City Chiefs games has garnered the league scrutiny, as some football fans have expressed they’re tired of seeing the pop star captured on camera.

Rapper Plies is the latest figure to speak out against the NFL, pleading with the league to “stop forcing” their coverage of Swift in light of her relationship with Chiefs star Travis Kelce.

On Sunday (Jan. 28), the Florida native tagged the NFL on social media while making the request. “Dear @NFL media: Can [you] please stop forcing Taylor Swift on football fans!” he wrote on X during the Chiefs’ AFC Championship matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.

While Plies acknowledged Swift’s star power and musical talent, he expressed his belief that she had begun to get more attention and fanfare than other prominent members of the Chiefs organization.

“We get it she’s at the game & she’s a phenomenal artist!” the “Bust It Baby” creator added. “But damn if we want to see her this much we’ll go to her concert!! Y’all show her more than y’all show the owner of the Chiefs! We love her but DAMN!”

Plies isn’t the only person who has addressed the NFL and the media’s focus on Taylor Swift in relation to the Kansas City Chiefs, as Travis Kelce himself has admitted that the league and television networks are “overdoing it” when it comes to coverage of the megastar couple.

Travis Kelce #87 of the Kansas City Chiefs celebrates with Taylor Swift after a 17-10 victory against the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship Game at M&T Bank Stadium on January 28, 2024 in Baltimore, Maryland.

“I think everybody is just overwhelmed,” Kelce said during an October 2023 episode of he and his brother, recently retired Philadelphia Eagle Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast. “They’re overdoing it a little bit, for sure. Especially my situation. I think they’re just trying to have fun with it.”

Despite Plies and others’ gripes, with the Chiefs advancing to the Super Bowl following their 17-10 victory over the Baltimore Ravens in Sunday’s (Jan. 28) AFC Championship game, it’s likely that Swift will continue to be shown during that broadcast on Feb. 11.

The Kansas City Chiefs will face off against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII, with the 49ers currently 2.5 point favorites over the Chiefs. However, according to Plies, the Chiefs have more momentum heading into that matchup, making Kansas City the team he predicts to win this year’s Super Bowl and their third Super Bowl victory in four years.
