Pittsburgh Steelers called ‘classless,’ ‘total trash,’ for CPR sack celebration days after Damar Hamlin situation

The Pittsburgh Steelers knocked off Cleveland Sunday, but still fell short of the playoffs, and that might not have been the worst “L” the franchise took.
At least not on social media.
Because, less than a week after Pittsburgh-area native Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field following a cardiac arrest in Monday’s game between his Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals, the Steelers celebrated an Alex Highsmith sack in the game by … emulating CPR on Highsmith while he was down on the ground.
And, while you would have to imagine that there was no ill intent toward Hamlin, who has made a remarkable recovery in the days since his harrowing ordeal, it was, at least, an incredibly ill-conceived celebration considering recent events.
And fans were not having it.
“Glad they got eliminated,” one fan, who retweeted the clip, wrote.
“Total trash,” another, who retweeted the video, posted.
“Classless Steelers with the CPR celebration,” another wrote.
You can see the clip of the celebration, here.
And there was a solid stream of people taking the team to task for the celebration.
Hamlin was given CPR on the field for 10 minutes after collapsing in Monday night’s game.
For what it’s worth, Highsmith’s last action on social media was retweeting Emmanuel Acho’s prayer for Hamlin to make a speedy recovery.
