The Detroit Pistons added more veteran presence to bolster its frontcourt. On Friday, the Pistons reportedly signed center Mason Plumlee to the roster as free agency got underway.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the 6-11, 30-year-old signed a three-year $25 million deal.
Plumlee, who last played with the Denver Nuggets, averaged 7.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists. He played 17 minutes per game.
Minutes later, Wojnarowski reported that the team had also signed center Jahlil Okafor to a two-year deal. According to Rod Beard of The Detroit News, the 6-10 24-year-old signed for the veteran minimum.
Okafor last played for the New Orleans Pelicans where he averaged 8.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.
While it is not certain, it could be an indicator that free agent Christian Wood may not return to the Motor City. The Pistons have five centers under contract with the drafting of center Isaiah Stewart on Wednesday night and the acquisition of Tony Bradley and Dewayne Dedmon.
