PHOTOS: Beaver spotted inside Royal York station

We’ve seen birds, rats and even raccoons on the subway in Toronto, but there was another animal attempting to ride the rocket on Thursday morning.

Jenn Abbott tweeted pictures from inside Royal York subway station of a beaver walking around the concourse, near the Grenview entrance.

Just adorable, probably scared to death, and turned around.

The appearance of the animal caused a temporary closure of the entrance. Animal services were called in and the beaver was safely removed from the station.

Now this commuter probably wandered in from the Humber marshes or the Humber River, but how it crossed Bloor Street and walked up the walkway and got through the doors of the station is anyone’s guess.
