Photographer Cody Scanlan says goodbye to The Holland Sentinel

HOLLAND — Two years ago, staffers at The Holland Sentinel were informed, for the first time in a very long time, we had a new hire solely dedicated to photography.

We’d been taking our own photos for so long, we wondered how much we’d really use this new hire, Cody Scanlan. The answer, in truth, was all the time. And not just for photography. For interviews, breaking news, tips and, perhaps most importantly, taste tests.

Our community has greatly benefited from Cody’s work. We’ve taken this week’s Around Town to celebrate that impact with his own selection of best shots, as Cody moves on to a new opportunity at a sister paper in Des Moines, Iowa.

The Around Town series will pause, for now, but we hope to return soon with more weekly community coverage. In the meantime, a sincere congratulations and thank you to Cody for capturing Holland in all its glory.
