Phils get needed boost from Stott’s 5-RBI night
Stott #Stott
Stott ripped a 3-2 cutter from Braves left-hander A.J. Minter for a three-run home run with two outs in the eighth inning in Monday night’s 6-4 victory over the Braves at Citizens Bank Park. It snapped the Phillies’ three-game losing streak, as they opened an important division series with the Aug. 2 Trade Deadline a little more than a week away.
Stott knocked in five of the Phillies’ six runs. He hit a two-run double in the second inning, which was likely the shortest extra-base hit of his career. The ball bounced just in front of first baseman Matt Olson, then took a crazy bounce into foul territory, cutting Philadelphia’s deficit to 3-2. The Phils trailed, 4-3, in the eighth, when Alec Bohm and Yairo Muñoz each hit one-out singles to set up Stott for the winning homer.
