Philly women sue Target over scooter incident at Cherry Hill store; what they say happened

CAMDEN – Two shoppers have sued Target Corp., claiming they were struck and injured by children riding electric shopper scooters at the discounter’s Cherry Hill store.
Cynthia Harris and Brittany Lewis, both of Philadelphia, claim Target was negligent in allowing five children to have access to the scooters at its Route 38 location.
It says the children “collided into” the women, causing “serious and permanent injuries” in a December 2021 incident.
It asserts each shopper suffered injuries to her back and right leg.

Harris has made a demand of $250,000 in damages. Lewis is seeking more than $75,000.
Among other claims, it asserts Target allowed a dangerous condition to persist in its store despite an obligation to ensure shopper safety.

An attorney for Target declined to comment on the case.
The suit, filed in state court on Dec. 4, was moved to Camden federal court on Jan. 2.
