While the next set of MLB games to be played in London are still a few months out, Major League Baseball is drumming up the hype early.

The league enlisted the help of former Phillies star and current MLB Europe ambassador Chase Utley to announce that tickets to the second ever London Series games coming this June.

He also took the time to visit the London Stadium and mark out where home plate will be.

This time, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs will take their heated rivalry across the pond after initially planning to do so in the summer of 2020.

The success of the first series between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees convinced the league to continue the event – despite the last one being cancelled by the global COVID-19 pandemic – with the hopes that a rivalry of this magnitude will continue the sports growth in the UK.

‘The MLB World Tour London Series 2023 is going to be another unmissable weekend,’ Utley said. ‘St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs are two great teams, with a fierce rivalry.’

‘The Cardinals are very experienced with a veteran team, while the Cubs are developing a younger team with some quality talent. You’ll have two great organizations on a different path. London was amazing in 2019 and it’s going to be just as exciting next year.’

That aforementioned Yankees-Red Sox game saw the first MLB home run hit in Europe – when New York outfielder Aaron Hicks smacked a two-run shot into the stands. Utley found the very seat where that home run landed and sat in it.

Tickets go on sale for those with exclusive access on Wednesday, November 30 – while the general public get access on Tuesday, December 6.
