Phillies fans have a bad day online after getting swept by the Nationals

It was not a pretty day for the Phillies or their fans.

In what looked on paper to be an easy matchup for Philadelphia, the visiting team ended up getting swept at the hands of the Nationals.

The Nats entered Tuesday’s games with a record of 21-32, and looked to be playing out the string at the end of this shortened season. Instead, they showed up in a big way for their divisional rivals, taking Game 1 by a score of 5-1.

John Kruk wasn’t happy about it.

Early in Game 2, it looked like Kruk’s words might have sparked something in the Phillies. But unfortunately for them, and fortunately for the Nats, it wasn’t to be.

The game went to extra innings, with the Phillies taking a one-run lead into the bottom of the 8th inning. There, Yadiel Hernández hit his first career home run—a two-run blast to right field that walked it off for Washington.

Phillies fans reacted, uh, not well.

Baseball fans around Twitter were also quick to jump on their misery, not holding back in celebrating yet another Philly bullpen collapse.

The Nationals will look to extend the Phillies’ misery even further Wednesday evening. If history is any indication, look for another rough night by the brutal Philadelphia bullpen.
