Phillies’ 6 HRs set new club record, tie MLB mark

PHILADELPHIA — The Phillies’ home run barrage in Game 3 of the National League Division Series was not only the best in franchise history, but one of the greatest home run displays ever seen in MLB postseason play.

Philadelphia set a club record — and matched the MLB mark — with six home runs in a 10-2 rout of the Braves on Wednesday night at Citizens Bank Park. The only other team to hit six homers in a playoff game is the Cubs, who did so in Game 3 of the 2015 NLDS against the Cardinals.

The Phillies’ previous team record for a postseason game was five homers — a mark set in Game 3 of the 2022 World Series. Harper and Marsh also went deep that night, while Alec Bohm, Kyle Schwarber and Rhys Hoskins chipped in with one apiece.

As for Harper and Castellanos each going deep twice, they became just the fourth set of teammates in MLB postseason history to notch a multihomer effort in the same game. The others: AJ Pollock and Chris Taylor (2021 Dodgers); Wil Myers and Fernando Tatis Jr. (2020 Padres); and Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth (1932 Yankees).
