Philadelphia Eagles rumors: If Pederson leaves, Howie should follow

The offseason plot continues to thicken for the Philadelphia Eagles.

How’s it going fans? Remember when we here at ITI told you this offseason would be a circus? Well, the newest report from Chris Mortensen via Twitter confirms that. He reports that both he and Tim McManus have been told that Doug Pederson will be meeting with owner and CEO Jeffrey Lurie on Tuesday, January 11th, to further discuss Coach’s future and vision of the Philadelphia Eagles moving forward.

The report also states that if Lurie is not on the same page as Doug or if he does not agree with Pederson’s vision, he could be relieved of his head coaching duties. Now, there had been several rumors throughout the season that there is a possibility that the fifth-year head coach possibly would welcome the change.

So far, this offseason seems to be more newsworthy than the regular season was, and not in a good way. If Lurie were to set up Pederson’s departure, it would all but seem that the Iggles would be looking clean house and start over. This may not sit well with Birds fans, but this could be the best thing for this franchise. Still, with that said, there still is a missing piece to this ‘do-over.’

If Philadelphia Eagles owner let’s go of Pederson, Roseman needs to be next.

On Sunday, January 10th, from Philadelphia Inquirer report Jeff McLane, a report stated that there have been growing tensions and often disagreements between general manager Howie Roseman and the Birds head coach. This really shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone, but this is where Mr. Lurie needs to look at the total picture.

Roseman is just as responsible for the Eagles’ shortcomings as Pederson is. His overpaid and aging roster construction has potentially set this franchise back for the foreseeable future. Instead of investing in the future, Roseman invested in the ‘win now’ mentality long after the winning window had closed.

Let’s all also not forget his last few drafts have been all but duds (no worries, we won’t go down that rabbit hole). So, if the rumors and reports about Pederson and Roseman not getting along are true, it wouldn’t be shocking. That brings Eagles fans back to the original question. Is Philadelphia hitting the reset button?

Several members of last season’s coaching staff are already gone, and Pederson’s fate hangs in the balance, so it wouldn’t be surprising if the Birds’ owner and chairman went the route of letting Doug go. Lurie has always been an owner that has kept his figure on the fan base’s pulse. That’s one thing that we can say with certainty, so if the fans aren’t happy, neither is Mr. Lurie.
