Pets, valuables saved in Ridgecrest house fire: KCFD

RIDGECREST, Calif. (KGET) — Firefighters from the Kern County Fire Department safely rescued several pets and valuables during a residential home fire in Ridgecrest on Wednesday morning.

KCFD said firefighters were dispatched to reports of a residential home on fire in the 500 block of South Allen Street. Upon arrival, firefighters found a home approximately 1,500 square feet in size with smoke visible from the roof.

Firefighters say they made entry to search for occupants inside and locate the seat of the fire, which was in the attic. Ventilation was performed in coordination with the interior fire attack, KCFD said.

Firefighters say they also assisted the home owner with removal of several pets and valuables during the fire. The fire was quickly contained, and firefighters remained on scene to assist with salvage and overhaul.

The cause of this fire is under investigation, according to KCFD. No injuries were reported.
