Danny O’Brien has added some key players to his stable, with prominent Western Australian-owner Bob Peters electing the teams Barwon Heads facility the place to prepare Inspirational Girl and Superstorm for the Spring Carnival.
In previous years Peters had sent his star gallopers with members of the Grant and Alana Williams stable to be trained from Sutton Grange
“We only had two horses go and you would need two people from our team here to go with them,” Peters explained of the decision.
“It’s a long spring, they are there for four months for just the two horses.”
Both horses flew out on Monday night and arrived ‘safe and sound’ in Melbourne on Tuesday morning.
“They were due to fly out on a plane over a month ago but that got canceled and we have been waiting ever since,” said Peters.
“Danny has a similar situation to us and has established the setup and a routine which our horses should fit in to.
“He is very happy to have them.”
Racegoers will be familiar with Superstorm who was runner-up to stablemate Regal Power in the 2020 All-Star Mile and finished third in the Toorak last spring, while Inspirational Girl makes her maiden voyage to Victoria as a winner of nine of her 12 starts in Western Australia.
“They have been in work for six weeks and in a couple of weeks will be ready to trial and go to the races in August,” Peters said.
“They are on track at the moment to go to the PB Lawrence or the Memsie.
“They have very similar ratings, I am flexible when it comes to the races for them but they might get too much weight in a Caulfield Cup.”
Inspirational Girl is currently a $21 chance with Sportsbet while Superstorm is a $51 chance in the Cox Plate.
O’Brien’s Barwon Heads property is 160-acres and has access to 13th Beach along with a 2000m grass track has an 800m uphill straight.
