Martin Brundle was snubbed by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola on his grid walk ahead of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The Sky pundit was on his usual walk ahead of the race when he happened across the Spaniard. He stopped him for a chat, but Guardiola immediately said to the broadcaster: “I just spoke already with Sky! I spoke twice with Sky.”
Brundle replied: “Okay, three times lucky then.” To that, Guardiola appeared to say rather sarcastically: “Yeah, I’m lucky.” The pundit then went on to ask about the current state of the Premier League table: “Second in the championship with Man City,” he said, before he was abruptly cut off by the coach.
“No, let’s not talk about football today,” said Guardiola. Immediately after that, he walked off while two guards were seen ushering Brundle and his camera operator away. “It’s okay, I’ve been thrown out of better places than this,” quipped the Sky pundit.
As the grid walks are always broadcast live, there are often blunders and awkward moments. At the USGP last month, he was snubbed by Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt despite his best efforts to speak to the actor, who will soon star in an F1-themed movie.
During that same grid walk, in his desperation to make his way through a crowd to get a better look at Lewis Hamilton’s car, he apparently failed to notice Apple CEO Tim Cook, and even pushed aside the mega-rich tech boss to get closer to the Mercedes.

And in a hilarious moment in Mexico, he was forced to clarify that he wasn’t stealing from one woman’s handbag on the grid. As he tried to squeeze through the crowd to speak to musician Will.I.Am, a cable to his microphone got stuck.
“I’ve got my microphone caught up on this ladies’ handbag,” he said, just as the woman turned around puzzled. Brundle then apologised, before telling the surprised woman: “Sorry, I wasn’t stealing anything out of your handbag – it was my microphone cable.” The woman then laughed and then replied: “I’m so sorry!”
That came moments after another woman came up to him and shouted at him: “It’s nice to meet you, I love you!” Brundle thanked her for her words, found out her name was Amelia, and later referred to her as his “number one fan”.
