Police have made a plea for people not to share footage of the moments boys plunged into freezing lake water – for the sake of their grieving families. Three boys have lost their lives and one six-year-old last night remained fighting for his life in hospital following the tragedy at Babbs Mill Lake near the Kingshurst estate, north Solihull.
It is understood that footage taken at the lake is circulating. West Midlands Police have urged people not to share it and instead pass it onto investigating officers.
“We understand how distressing this is for the families and the wider community,” West Midlands Police said. “We would ask people to not speculate or share any video footage at this stage. You can contact us with information, video or images via https://mipp.police.uk/operation/20HQ19Z98-PO1”
Despite confirming there were no reports of any other missing children, a search of the lake was last night ongoing. “Searches of the lake are continuing as we seek to establish exactly what happened and if anyone else fell into the water,” explained the spokesman on Monday afternoon.
Police remained at the scene late into Monday as did specialist search teams. It comes as tributes to the three boys have started the fill the area around the lake.
