Penn State in Top 6 of elite 2024 4-star linebacker
Penn #Penn
Penn State will try and finish off their class of 2024 on a strong note as we get further away from the summer commitment periods.
Many of the uncommitted players remaining will wait until the fall to decide on their collegiate teams. Even though the Nittany Lions currently have a strong class with 24 commitments, they’re still looking to add players who fir the culture and scheme.
One of those players is elite linebacker prospect Chris Cole, who recently cut his list of schools down to six ahead of his commitment date.
Cole is a 6’4″ 220 pound linebacker from the state of Virginia. While he’s listed as a linebacker in the recruiting databases, he also plays safety and wide receiver for his high school team, making him one of the most versatile players still available.
Along with Penn State, the other schools who made his list are Georgia, USC, Tennessee, Miami and Virginia Tech.
Cole is a big time prospect in the class of 2024. He is a consensus four-star player that On3’s industry rankings have listed as the number five overall linebacker and 53rd overall player in the class.
He’s been busy when it comes to seeing schools on his list. Virginia Tech is his most visited school with nine unofficial visits and one official in mid-June. Penn State and Georgia have each been visited three times, with one official visit to each in June.
Despite going to Virginia Tech so many times, On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has Georgia as the massive favorites to land the linebacker. They’re sitting at an 86.4% chance while Penn State comes in third with a 1.8% chance.
Cole has set his commitment date for Sept. 10th giving Penn State time to keep recruiting him. Although, right now it seems like an uphill battle to land this talented linebacker.
